HAPPINESS. It is strange that one word can be so mysterious. Other than success, happiness is at the top of the list of things people would like to have an ample supply of. It has been proven that our genetics determine about 50% of our overall happiness. What does that mean? That means that we are in control of the other 50%. What a freeing statement to be aware of! This means that the thoughts we have throughout our day, what we choose to focus on, who we choose to surround ourselves with—all dictates much of how our day to day lives play out. Ever hear the saying “like attracts like”, or “one small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day?” What can we do to be more aware of how much power we have in our day to day lives while increasing our level of happiness along the way? I have put together a few things you can start practicing today, as soon as you finish reading this blog, enjoy 🙂


GIVE THANKS. This is no new secret ingredient to the overall recipe of happiness as I am sure you have heard this advice before, it’s true. Focus your attention and energy on what you do have instead of wishing and wanting more.


PURSUE—DON’T JUST DREAM. Life is what we make it and face it wishing for a better job or wishing for a better anything will not increase your level of happiness. Actively working towards our goals will. Draw out your blueprint. The key is to make specific little goals that will get you to the finish line. Nothing will make you feel more fulfilled, I promise!


CHOOSE LOVE OVER THINGS. In a world where accumulating “stuff” often gets disguised with being happy, I hate to say that we can’t take any of it with us when we’re gone. Sobering, right? Happiness is surrounding ourselves be people who encourage and believe in us. Less is more and LOVE is everything.


STICK TO WHAT YOU’RE GOOD AT. I hate needles, and blood. Maybe that’s why I didn’t end up a doctor? The more you enjoy what you do the more fulfilled you will feel. Use your strengths to your advantage and apply that in your work. Find ways to practice these strengths more often and you will find your level of happiness increase, trust me!
